Over 2000 killed in Morocco earthquake; Acting Ameer condoles

-Professor Mujibur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 10th September 2023 expressing deep shock as numerous lives and countless properties have destroyed in a massive earthquake that struck Morocco on 8th September night.

“Our brotherly Muslim nation Morocco is devasted due to massive earthquake. I personally and on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami express deep shock and condolence over the incident.

We came know from different media and other sources that more than 2000 people are dead after a powerful earthquake struck Morocco. The magnitude 6.8 earthquake was the biggest to hit the country in 120 years. Many locals slept on the streets because their home was destroyed or out of fear of potential aftershock quakes. I am urging the global community to take stand by the side of the earthquake victims of Morocco.

I am expecting that by the grace of Allah, the government and the people of Morocco will be able to overcome the losses shortly. I am praying for the salvation of the souls who have been killed in this disaster and extending sympathy to their mournful families. Besides, I am praying for the quick recovery of the injured.”
