Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 19th August 2023 protesting and condemning the unwanted remark of Indian authority about Jamaat-e-Islami which has been published in various media recently.
In recent times, we came to know from various media reports that, India has sent a diplomatic message to USA in which the Indian authority has made some unwanted and intentional comment against Jamaat-e-Islami. The message reportedly termed Jamaat as a fanatic fundamentalist organization and it claimed that if Jamaat gets stronger in Bangladesh, Indian border security issues will come under threat. The remarks which are stated in the report are totally unexpected, confusing and ill-motivated. The report has been made out of vengeance. The report also stated some other remarks which is tantamount to interfere in Bangladeshi politics. Bangladesh is an independent and sovereign country. The people will not accept any interference by the third country or the outsiders. We are vehemently condemning the remarks and comments, stated in the report.
We want to affirm that Jamaat-e-Islami is a systematic and democratic political party. Jamaat sincerely believes in the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. Jamaat does not endorse the interference of any quarter and similarly the party do not get involved with the internal issues of any other country. Jamaat expects a friendly relationship with all neighboring countries.
We are urging the Indian government to be refrained from making any such untoward and unexpected comment against Jamaat-e-Islami in future.
