A meeting of the media affairs secretary of different cities and districts held today on 27th July with Jamaat-e-Islami’s central publicity and media secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda in the chair. The meeting discussed about the responsibilities of these media secretaries under the current situation. Jamaat’s Acting Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman addressed the program as the chief guest and gave necessary directives to the participants.
In the present context, the significant role of publicity and media is undeniable. The modern age is the age of internet, Messages can be reached to the people swiftly through internet and media wings. Right now, media is mostly controlled by the anti-Islamic forces. They are presenting Islam in a wrong way and continuously making false propaganda against Islam. As a result, the people around the globe are suffering from Islamophobia. We have to give stern reply to these wrong perceptions through media.
He stated that, Islam is the religion of peace and welfare. Islam has come to free the people from all injustice, ill-deeds and repression. The beauties of Islam should be upheld before the people through media. Media should be used as the key tool to spread the sermon of Islam. Some manpower of the organization should be selected and they should be nurtured as media personalities. We should make a skilled manpower who will be used to deal with email, mobile, Facebook, YouTube and twitter.
Almighty Allah instructed the Prophet (peace be upon Him) by saying that, “Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious.” We have to follow the same footsteps. Our language should be soft, nice and spontaneous. We have to bring the people closer instead of creating distance.
Acting Ameer further said that Jamaat’s message to be outreached to the people. What we usually do, media do not portray it. Rather they publish it reversely. Then within span of time, this wrong perception become established. So, people nurture some negative ideas about Jamaat-e-Islami. We have to eradicate those wrong concepts. We should use media properly to highlight the speech and activities of Jamaat-e-Islami.
