-Professor Mujibur Rahman

A virtual meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami’s district Ameer held with party’s Acting Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman in the chair. The meeting discussed in details about the implementation of the pre-declared programs which are scheduled to be held on 28th July, 30th July and 1st August. Addressing the program, Acting Ameer sought the assistance of the countrymen to implement the programs. He further said,

“Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is an organization which is used to implement all political programs democratically and systematically. Jamaat earlier had participated in all democratic movement peacefully and the people also supported those programs wholeheartedly. Jamaat has proved this claim once again by holding a peaceful rally on last 10th June in Dhaka. Similarly, we have submitted letters seeking assistance for holding rallies in Sylhet and Chittagong. But they denied to provide us such assistance.

Political programs are indispensable for holding a free, fair and credible election. But by creating obstruction in these programs the government is creating barriers in the process of a participatory election. From a press meet, we have declared our peaceful programs once again including processions on 28th and 30th July and rally in the capital on 1st August. Already, Jamaat’s city units have submitted letter to the respective police administration seeking assistance to hold rallies. We believe that the administration will take those letters into consideration and let Jamaat-e-Islami to hold rallies and processions.

We want to inform our district Ameer that you have play effective roles to activate our manpower to implement our peaceful programs. We do not want anarchy and violence. But the government is creating such volatile situation and it will not bring good result for anyone. He said, police are the servant of the countrymen. They do not belong to any particular party. So, people expect them to act freely and fairly. We are seeking the assistance of the administration ad participation of our leaders and activists to implement our programs including processions in cities and towns on 28th July and in district level on 30th July and massive rally on 1st August in the capital Dhaka.

We want to assert that the countrymen have rejected the recent by elections of Gulshan and Netrokona. In Netrokona, there is no candidate except the ruling party backed candidate. While, 11 percent voters have casted votes in the Gulshan by election. These situations demonstrate that people are not interested about election under the incumbent regime. We are urging the government to restore caretaker government system in a bid to arrange a free, fair, credible and participatory election.
