Public views were not reflected in any election under Sheikh Hasina’s regime

-Professor Mujibur Rahman

Whatsoever elections have taken place under the regime of Sheikh Hasina, were not free, fair and uninterrupted. The mass people could not cast their votes as the ruling party hooligans created mayhem and terrorism during these elections. The people do not trust this government anymore. Public opinions have been reflected only in those elections which were held earlier under the caretaker government, proposed by former Jamaat Ameer Professor Ghulam Azam. As such, for establishing a pro-people government, a free, fair and inclusive election to be organized under the caretaker government. It is the demand of the people. I am urging the countrymen to play united role in the movement for attaining this public demand.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman said this while addressing workers’ conference of the Faridpur region on 23rd June, Friday. Regional coordinator and Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad presided over the program. Acting Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Masum spoke on the occasion as the special guest.

Professor Mujibur Rahman said, we will remain fearful of Allah and will act like His servant. To know the ignorance, we have to expand our study on the Quran and the Hadith. He urged the government to include Quranic study in the syllabus to upgrade the ethical values and standard of the people. He claimed, man-made doctrine can never give peace to the society. The law of Allah is the only error-free law and by implementing Allah’s rule, we may attain peace both in this world and the hereafter.

Maulana ATM Masum said, we will convey the message of Islam to the general masses in order to call them towards honesty and also to refrain them from ill-deeds. The incumbent tyrannical government is sitting upon the shoulder of the people forcefully. They oppressed the leaders and activists of the Islamic movement severely. We will take its revenge by establishing an Islamic welfare state.

Hamidur Rahman Azad said, we have to refine our rituals and personal duties. Organizational activities to be strengthened. He called upon the activists to play active role in the national and the local elections.

Among others, central Majlish-e-Shura member and regional team member Shamsul Islam al Barati, Professor Abdut Tawab, Maulana Khalilur Rahman, Faridpur district Jamaat Ameer Maulana Muhammad Badruddin, Rajbari district Ameer Advocate Nurul Islam, Madaripur district Ameer Maulana Abdus Sobhan Khan, Shariatpur district Ameer Maulana Abdur Rab Hashemi and Gopalganj district Jamaat Ameer Md. Rezaul Karim addressed the conference.
