Central Majlish-e-Shura calls for strong measures to curb the price hike of the essentials

-Professor Mujibur Rahman

A meeting of Central Majlish-e-Shura of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was held with the party’s Acting Ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman in the chair. The meeting expressed deep concern over the price hike of the essentials. The meeting adopted the following proposals in this regard:

Price of all essentials including rice, lentils, oil, fishes, meat, sugar, greens and vegetables, ginger, onion and garlic have increased so much that all these prices already went out of common’s reach. As such, the lives of the poor, lower middle class and middle class people became difficult and critical. The lives of the farmers, labors and people of limited income became really challenging. Besides, house rent has been increased due to price hike of water, gas and power tariff. The price of electricity has been increased for 11 and 13 times both in retail and bulk level. The poor people even cannot arrange minimum standard food for the survival. As if, there is no one to curb the price hike. The government is not taking any effective measure to control the price hike. Actually, the government has no authority or control over anything.

Central Majlish-e-Shura has been observing with deep concern that, the government is remaining busy with the tricks for holding office instead for looking after the people and their interest. As the incumbent government is not elected so that they are subduing people and torturing them inhumanly. They do not bother at the welfare and good of the common people.

As the ruling party backed businessmen have influenced the market and formed syndicates so, although the prices of all essentials have increased, they became richer. Whereas, the general masses are struggling to survive, they are making luxuries with the cost of unlawfully earned money. Such situation should not be continued further.
Central Majlish-e-Shura of Jamaat-e-Islami is urging the government to curb the price hike strictly and to bring all the prices of the commodities within the common’s reach.
