Bangladesh emerged as an independent and sovereign country through a blood spattered war in 1971. Bangladesh is a highly potential country, in perspective of agriculture, industry, tourism, human and natural resources. Naturally, the people of Bangladesh are talented, honest and industrious. But to take this country towards the peak point of development, an honest, skilled and patriot leadership is earnestly required. From such a realization, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami launched its journey with a determination to produce the responsible citizens along with efficient leadership in a bid to build a modern and developed Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is the popular Islamic organization as well as one of the most historic and popular political party in this country. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami firmly believes that for the sake of worldly peace and the salvation in hereafter, each and every human being should accept and acknowledge Allah as the only God and Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) as the most ideal leader. With this spirit, Jamaat is conveying the abovementioned message among the general masses. At the same time, the organization is encouraging people to follow Islam meticulously in their personal lives. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami observes that the society based on Islamic values can ensure peace and welfare to the world humanity. But to create and protect such a welfare society, a competent government is inevitable. This is why; Jamaat is carrying out activities in a systematic and democratic way to formulate a government, enriched with responsibility and Islamic values.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami maintains no hatred for any political party and organizations working in home and abroad. Rather, Jamaat is keen to keep up a friendly relationship with the followers of different faiths, beliefs and opinions to build welfare, happy and prosperous Bangladesh in a democratic way. As a part of such vision, Jamaat has participated in all the national and local government elections since the independence of the country and achieved huge success.
In 80s, Jamaat placed caretaker government formula has attained huge popularity in local and global arena. In 1991, to resolve a political deadlock, national election held under the caretaker government based on a political consensus. Later, a widespread movement was launched demanding the inclusion of caretaker government system in the constitution. Subsequently, the then government became compelled to include this system in the constitution in 1996. Two national elections held under the system successfully.
Jamaat-e-Islami participated in the parliamentary election of 2001 and bagged 17 parliamentary seats. Consequently the party also took part in the government with BNP as their alliance partner. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami and Secretary General Shaheed Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid at that time discharged the duties as Agriculture, Industries and Social Welfare Minister skillfully, efficiently and honestly and gained a high reputation. Their significant contribution and success will be remembered always.
The optimum sacrifice, what the people of Bangladesh had made during the war of liberation, is completely unprecedented. But the dream for which the people had sacrificed a lot, that is still untouchable due to poor leadership in the post-liberation war period. The hard working people of this country became victim of deprivation and exploitation repeatedly. People’s voting rights have been seized away. People had sacrificed their lives for democracy and the same situation is still going on. Good governance and human rights are in exile now. The state apparatus which were supposed to serve the people, now turned into tools of repression and torture.
Under the circumstances, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has been working to alter the darkened future of the country and to bring bank the golden dawn with new potentialities. Jamaat-e-Islami is playing responsible role overcoming the tough paths of tortures, suppression and martyrdoms. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami strongly believes that the duration of the deviated political system in Bangladesh has come to an end. On the basis of people’s desire and longings, Allah willing, Bangladesh will come out as a justifiable state soon. May Almighty Allah bless us all, Ameen.
