Women’s rally held in Mirpur

Women must play a historic role in establishing Islam, says Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that Jamaat-e-Islami aims to elevate the “nation of mothers” to their rightful dignity and to give women the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to national life alongside men, thus granting them an honorable and unique position in society.

He made these remarks on Wednesday, October 16, at 10:30 a.m., while addressing a women’s rally organized by the Mirpur-Kafrul region (Dhaka-15 constituency) under Dhaka North City Jamaat at the Police Convention Hall in Mirpur.

The event was presided over by Central Majlish-e-Shura member and Assistant Secretary of Dhaka North City Jamaat Dr. Fakhruddin Manik, and it was hosted by Working Committee Member of Dhaka North City and Member Secretary of the Dhaka-15 constituency Shah Alam Tuhin. Special guests included Jamaat’s Central Working Committee Member and Nayeb-e-Ameer of Dhaka North City Abdur Rahman Musa, and Central Vice-President of Bangladesh Sramik Kollan Federation Laskar Mohammad Taslim.

In his address, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “Allah has instructed us to establish a humane society. Therefore, it is our responsibility to follow the commands of Allah and the ideals of His Messenger (peace be upon him) in every aspect of life. True honor comes from obeying Allah’s commands, while humiliation and disgrace are the fate of those who disobey.”

He further said, “Indeed, the character and life of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) represent the highest moral excellence. We must all build our lives in accordance with his ideals.” Speaking about Jamaat’s mission, he said, “Our struggle is in the path of Allah  to establish His commands on earth. Those who strive in the path of Allah are His soldiers. This struggle is not an armed conflict only; rather, the true fighters are those who can control their own desires against the whispers of Satan. In essence, we are engaged in a struggle to bring about positive transformation in society by establishing justice and fairness.”

He added, “We want to establish a society free from oppression, persecution, injustice, immorality, and crime  a society where there will be no hostility or inequality, where all people, regardless of religion, race, or lineage, will enjoy equal protection under the law. The country will be free from misrule and tyranny.”

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman called upon everyone to unite under a single banner to build such a peaceful and just society. He said that in the establishment of Islam, not only men but women also played a significant and indispensable role. In this regard, Hazrat Khadijah (RA) was the foremost example. After the first revelation, when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) became somewhat tensed, Ummul Mu’minin Hazrat Khadijah (RA) comforted him by wrapping him in a blanket and reassuring him, saying, “You are a man of kindness and never harm anyone.” She then took him to her cousin, the saint Waraqah bin Nawfal, who recognized the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at once as the final Messenger. Upon hearing Waraqah’s words, Hazrat Khadijah (RA) immediately declared her faith in Allah and His Messenger and thus became the first believer  the proud first Muslim.

Mentioning Islam’s first martyr, Hazrat Sumayyah (RA), he said that among the first several who embraced in its early days, she stood out as the first martyr of Islam. During the Battle of Uhud, Hazrat Subaytah (RA) stood as a human shield to protect the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), taking upon herself all the blows aimed at him. He emphasized that Islam has given women a special status and dignity. Calling upon women to once again play a historic role in the field as in the past, he urged them to stand firm in establishing the Deen of Allah on His earth.
