Courtesy meeting held between German Ambassador and Jamaat Ameer

On 12 October (Sunday), the newly appointed German Ambassador to Dhaka, Dr. Rüdiger Lotz, paid a courtesy visit to the honorable Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. The meeting and subsequently the breakfast took place at 9:00 a.m. at the Jamaat Ameer’s office in Basundhara, Dhaka. Accompanying the ambassador were the Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Anja Karsten, and Political & Press Officer, Sharlina Nuzhat Kabir.

The meeting was held in an extremely cordial and friendly atmosphere. At the beginning of the discussion, His Excellency, the ambassador inquired about the health condition of Jamaat Ameer and wished him a speedy and full recovery.

During the meeting, it was noted that the upcoming national election is of great importance for Bangladesh. Germany’s cooperation and technical assistance were sought to make the election free, fair, and acceptable. At the same time, expectations were expressed for Germany’s continued support for protecting the rights of women in Bangladesh, enhancing workplace skills, and overall development.

Additionally, constructive discussions were held on Bangladesh’s human rights situation, freedom of expression, sustainable democracy, and the need to strengthen democratic institutions. Both sides expressed optimism that bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Germany will be further accelerated in the future.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and head of party’s Central Publicity & Media Department, Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair; Jamaat Ameer’s foreign affairs advisor, Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan; and Dhaka North City Jamaat’s Medical Thana Ameer Dr. S.M. Khaliduzzaman accompanied the Jamaat Ameer at that time.
