Courtesy meeting held between British High Commissioner with Jamaat Ameer

On 10 September (Wednesday) at 11 a.m., the honorable British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mrs. Sarah Cook, paid a courtesy call and exchanged views with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at his office in Bashundhara. On the occasion, she inquired about Jamaat Ameer’s health condition and wished him a full recovery. She was accompanied by the High Commission’s Second Secretary, Ms. Kate Ward. The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere.

During the exchange of views, they discussed the overall prevailing situation in Bangladesh, particularly the establishment of democracy, the upcoming election, human rights, the condition of minorities in Bangladesh, and the Rohingya issue. They also discussed enhancing and strengthening the friendly relations between Great Britain and Bangladesh.

Among others, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher; Assistant Secretary General and Head of party's Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair; and Jamaat Ameer’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan were present during the meeting.
