On 7 September (Sunday) at 11:30 a.m., the Honorable Ambassador of Palestine to Bangladesh, Mr. Yousef Saleh Y. Ramadan, paid a courtesy call and held a meeting with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at his office in Bashundhara. At the outset, the Ambassador inquired about the health condition of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman prayed to Almighty Allah seeking his complete recovery.
Referring to the issue of Palestine during the meeting, Jamaat Ameer said: “Like the entire Muslim Ummah, we share a sincere relationship with Palestine, and this bond will remain unbroken forever, Insha’Allah. In the past, the oppressed Muslims of Palestine have been subjected to repeated waves of tyranny and persecution. Over the past two years of relentless Israeli bombardment, around 65,000 Palestinians, including women and children, have been martyred, while nearly 170,000 have been seriously injured. According to a TRT World report, ‘In Gaza, not a single member of 2,700 families has survived; they have been completely wiped out. Nearly 90 percent of Gaza’s infrastructure has been destroyed by Israeli airstrikes, with damages amounting to $680 billion. Thirty-eight hospitals, 833 mosques, and more than 150 educational institutions have been destroyed so far.
He further stated, “The enemy of humanity, Israel, is preventing food from entering Gaza, resulting in famine. Thousands of Palestinians, including children, are dying of starvation.
Recently, Israel openly announced its plan to occupy Gaza and, in line with that objective, has devised a horrific plan to forcibly evict nearly one million Palestinians from Gaza. This blueprint for Gaza’s occupation is a naked manifestation of Israeli aggression, which is completely contrary to international law, human rights, and principles of justice. Such violent expansionism and aggression by Israel is not only a grave threat to Palestine but also to global peace, stability, and humanity as a whole. I urgently call upon the United Nations, the OIC, and the peace-loving world to compel occupying Israel to immediately halt this destructive plan of seizing Gaza City and forcibly displacing the Palestinian people.
Jamaat Ameer also said, “In the present circumstances, all people of Bangladesh, regardless of political affiliation, stand in support of Palestine. Our prayers, love, assistance, and solidarity are with Palestine, and that will continue in the future, Insha’Allah. We want Palestine to emerge as a fully independent nation-state on the world stage. This land is imbued with the memories of numerous Prophets. The Muslims’ first Qibla, Bait- al-Muqaddas, is located over there. We express our heartfelt love, respect, and sympathy to our deprived and afflicted Palestinian brothers and sisters. May Allah accept those who have been killed as martyrs, and may He grant recovery to the wounded.”
At this time, the Honorable Ambassador of Palestine, Mr. Yousef Saleh Y. Ramadan, said: “I consider myself fortunate to have met the esteemed Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. On behalf of the people of Palestine, I sincerely express gratitude for the meaningful love, support, and assistance of the people of Bangladesh, especially towards Gaza. As the Ambassador of Palestine, I also express my hope that Bangladesh—particularly Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will continue to extend their meaningful support, assistance, and cooperation to the people of Palestine in the future as well, Insha’Allah.”
Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher; Assistant Secretary General and Head of Central Publicity & Media Division, Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair; Central Executive Council Member and Ameer of Dhaka City North Jamaat, Mohammad Selim Uddin; and Foreign Affairs Adviser to Jamaat Ameer Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan were present during the meeting.
