On Thursday, September 4, at 11:00 a.m., the Honorable Ambassador of the European Union to Bangladesh, Mr. Michael Miller paid a courtesy call on the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at his office in Bashundhara. Deputy Head of Delegation Ms. Baiba Zarina was also present with the Ambassador at that time.

During the courtesy meeting and exchange of views, they discussed various issues of mutual interest related to Bangladesh and the European Union. The issue of making democracy in Bangladesh meaningful was also given significant importance during the discussion. They expressed optimism that in the future, mutual relations, development, and progress between the two sides would continue.

In addition, the Honorable Ambassador inquired about the health condition of the Jamaat Ameer. They also discussed the possibility of a high-level delegation meeting between the EU and Jamaat-e-Islami in mid-September.

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, and the Jamaat Ameer’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan were also present during the meeting.
