Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued a statement on 2 September recalling the contributions of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s former member of the Central Executive Council, eminent economist, social worker, and media personality, Mir Quasem Ali.
In the statement, he said: “Shaheed Mir Quasem Ali struggled throughout his life to establish Bangladesh as a happy, prosperous, and Islamic welfare state. He was the founding central president of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir. He played a pioneering role in establishing Islamic banks and insurance, numerous mosques and madrasas, and various Islamic and public welfare institutions. In particular, his initiative in providing affordable healthcare to the poor was groundbreaking. The people of Bangladesh will gratefully remember his contributions.
He further said, because of his involvement with the Islamic movement, the Awami fascist government filed a conspiratorial case against him on charges of crimes against humanity and sentenced him to death. The government could not prove any of the allegations brought against him. He had no connection whatsoever with the accusations made. He was completely deprived of justice in an unlawful manner. On 3 September 2016, at 10:30 pm, he has been executed.
The Jamaat Ameer said, “The pro-people and welfare activities he initiated in the country will, InshaAllah, continue for a long time. Through his deeds, he will remain alive forever in people’s hearts. We pray to Almighty Allah to accept the martyrdom of Mir Quasem Ali and grant him the highest station in Jannah.
We call upon all levels of organizational manpower and the people of the country to come forward to successfully complete the tasks he left behind.”
