Acting Ameer remembers the contribution of Muhammad Kamaruzzaman; appreciates his outstanding roles

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 10 April 2021 recalling the contribution and sacrifice of distinguished journalist, politician, intellectual, author, researcher and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s former Assistant Secretary General Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.

“Since his student life, Muhammad Kamaruzzaman was involved with the Islamic movement. Being a politician, he conducted political activities. Besides, he made some significant contributions as an author, journalist, and researcher. He authored several important books. His written books and articles will inspire the leaders and activists of the Islamic movement and the countrymen in the days to come. He will be remembered for his outstanding roles in establishing democracy, rule of law, justice, human rights, and voting rights in the country.

The government has filed a false and ill-designed case against him. He was sentenced to death based on assumption and speculation. Different quarters from home and abroad condemned that sentence. United Nations, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries and human rights watchdogs urged the Bangladesh government to halt his execution. But denying and defying all those appeals, Muhammad Kamaruzzaman was executed at 10.30 pm on 11 April 2015.

May Allah accept him as a martyr. I am urging my fellow countrymen to get involved with his movement for establishing a welfare state based on Islamic ideology.
