Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 19th March 2023 as at least 19 people were killed and 25 others became injured during a tragic road accident in the Padma bridge adjacent area.

A bus from Emad Transport left Khulna Sunday morning for Dhaka and the accident took place at the Kutubpur area of the Shibchar area of the Madaripur district after the bus fell into a ditch. So far 19 people killed and 25 others injured. Some of them are in very critical condition. Such painful mishaps are frequently happening here and there due to reckless driving and violation of traffic rules. The highways of the countries have turned into a death trap. The government has utterly failed to protect public lives and properties. The government’s failures in all sectors are apparent.

Acting Ameer said I am expressing deep shock for the victims who have been killed in this tragic accident and extending sympathy to their mournful families. May Allah accept them as martyrs. Whoever is going through treatment, I am praying for their quick recovery.

I am urging the concerned authorities to reveal the real cause behind the accident, to pay the victims’ families due compensation, and also to ensure the necessary treatment of the injured people.
