At least 10 people killed in Sitakunda and Dhaka’s science lab blasts; Acting Ameer condoles

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer and former Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 5th March 2023 expressing deep shock as 10 people killed and 75 more injured during the blasts of Sitakunda of Chittagong and Dhaka’s science lab area.

A blast at an oxygen plant in southeastern Bangladesh's Sitakunda area claimed six lives on Saturday following a huge explosion. The impact of the explosion was reportedly heard up to two kilometers away. Later, it becomes clear that fire broke out at Seema Oxygen Plant at around 4.30 pm in Keshabpur area of Chattogram's Sitakunda upazila. Till now, 7 people were killed and 25 people bcame critically injured in this blast.

Meanwhile, an explosion took place at a building in Science Lab area this morning. Three persons died and at least 40 were injured in this explosion.

I am expressing deep condolences for the victims who have been killed in these blasts. I am also extending sympathy to their mournful families. I am praying to Allah for accepting them as martyrs and also seeking quick recoveries of the injured who are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.

I am urging the concerned authorities to find out the real reasons behind these blasts and also to pay due compensation to the victim families and for taking proper initiatives to ensure treatment of the injured.
