Satkhira district’s pro-people leader, former member of Parliament, former member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-islami’s central Majlish-e-Shura, former district Ameer and noted religious scholar Principal Maulana Abdul Khaleq Mondol has been awarded death penalty. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 24th March, 2022 expressing deep concern over such initiative. He also demanded the immediate release of all detained Jamaat leaders.

In the statement, Jamaat Ameer said, the government has been murdering one after one Jamaat leaders by plotting conspiracies. Satkhira district’s pro-people leader, former member of Parliament, former member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-islami’s central Majlish-e-Shura, former district Ameer and noted religious scholar Principal Maulana Abdul Khaleq Mondol has become the latest victim of same conspiracy. The government has filed false cases against this veteran leader in connection with some false and fictitious allegations. Subsequently, they produced some party loyal men as witnesses before the court to confirm the plot. Based on the false statements of proofed witnesses, the tribunal has awarded this leader with death penalty on 24th March. This is a perverse verdict. Principal Maulana Abdul Khaleq Mondol has been deprived from getting justice. He will file an appeal plea in the Appellate Division against the verdict. If justice is ensured in the Appellate Division, he will get acquittal, insha Allah.

Former MP, Principal Maulana Abdul Khaleq Mondol has no nexus with the allegations, brought against him. He is a popular leader of Satkhira district. He was the elected chairman of Union Council and Upazila council. He was elected a member of parliament from his constituency. He was a meritorious student. He stood first in all the public exams during his student life. During his imprisonment, he memorized the entire Quran. The people of Satkhira love him immensely. Being envious of his massive popularity, the government has made a plan to hang this aged leader. The government’s submitted documents are not true. The authority has concocted stories and produced false witnesses to confirm his death penalty. We are condemning the conspiracy to murder Principal Maulana Abdul Khaleq Mondol and demanding his immediate release.
