Jamaat Ameer respectfully remembers the contribution and sacrifice of Muhammad Kamaruzzaman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 10 April 2021 recalling the contribution and sacrifice of noted journalist, politician, intellectual, author, researcher and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s former Assistant Secretary General Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.

Muhammad Kamaruzzamn was sentenced to death in a government filed false and manipulated case. Different quarters from home and abroad condemned that sentence. United Nations, United States, United Kingdom and other countries and human rights watchdogs urged the Bangladesh government to halt his execution. But denying and defying all those appeals, Muhammad Kamaruzzaman was executed on 10.30 at night of 11 April, 2015.

Since his student life, Muhammad Kamaruzzaman was involved with the Islamic movement. As a politician, he conducted political activities. Besides, he made some significant contribution as an author, journalist and researcher. He authored several important books. His written books and articles will inspire the leaders and activists of the Islamic movement and the countrymen in the days to come.

His contribution to establish democracy, rule of law, justice, human rights and people’s voting rights will be remembered always. I am recalling him and his contributions with utmost respect. May Allah accept him as a martyr. I am urging my fellow countrymen to get involved with his movement for establishing a welfare state based on Islamic ideology.
