Jamaat Ameer remembers former Ameer Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami and his contributions

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on May 9, 2020 recalling the historic contribution of former Jamaat Ameer, internationally known religious scholar, former minister and member of parliament Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami. 

“Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, a familiar name to the people of Bangladesh. He was a noted religious scholar and a thinker of Islam. His honesty, quality, generosity, humility and forgiving attitude have endowed him with a respectable position. By dint of his quality, since his boyhood he led the organization at various stages. He always kept him engaged in preaching, spreading and establishing the spirit of Islam. As a politician, he worked throughout his life for the wellbeing of the people.

From his constituency, he was elected member of parliament in 1991 and 2001 general election. The nation will remember his constructive role inside the parliament always. He also played pivotal role to promote Islamic education. He performed active role to ensure government’s recognition to the Kawmi Madrasa education as well.

He discharged duties as the Minister of Agriculture and Industries with sincerity, honesty and skills. The industrial sector of the country has turned into a profitable sector based on his hard work and sincere efforts.

He had a tremendous acceptance in the global arena. A Jordanian daily published a list of World’s 500 influential person in 2006 and enlisted him over there. In another survey of 2009, he was counted as one of the top 50 influential Muslim personalities of the world.

Maulana Nizami has authored so many important books which will enlighten the people to nurture them individually and also to form their families and societies. He had delivered lots of addresses in different seminars, programs, events and general gathering. Those words will also help to rectify our thoughts.

He was sentenced to death in line with a false and concocted case. Later on, he was executed on 11 May of 2016 at 00:10 am.

I am remembering the historic contribution of former Ameer-e-Jamaat Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami with great honor and tribute. May Allah accept him as a martyr and bless him with Jannah. I am urging my fellow countrymen to accomplish his unfinished tasks sincerely and wholeheartedly.
