Sri Lanka Jamaat-e-Islami’s former Ameer dies; Jamaat Ameer condoles

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 5 May 2020 at the death of former Ameer of Sri Lankan Jamaat-e-Islami, Syed Muhammad Hasrat.

“I am deeply shocked and saddened at the death of Syed Muhammad Hasrat. He was a mindful man with humility and simplicity. He has played a significant role to preach and spread the message of Islam across Sri Lanka. He also obtained in-depth knowledge about different issues of Islam. Because of his sincere efforts, a simple book stationary shop has turned into a massive book publishing house over there. With this institution, he patronized many scholars in Sri Lanka and also became capable to enlighten the youth community with the Islamic books. As a result, Sri Lankan Jamaat-e-Islami, which was struggling at one period for the absence of leadership, have finally turned into a well-structured organization. May Allah accept all his services for Islam and bless him with Jannah.

I am praying for the salvation of Syed Muhammad Hasrat and extending my deep sympathy to his mournful family, relatives and fan-followers.”
