Jamaat Ameer urges to distribute warm clothes among the winter-affected poor communities

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 20 December 2019 urging party leaders and activists and the fellow countrymen to distribute warm clothes among the winter-affected poor communities nationwide.

“The poor and the working communities across the country have been suffering due to sudden appearance of the cold wave nationwide. It is our responsibility and obligation to take stand by their side by distributing warm clothes.

Severe cold and winter wave have been affecting the districts, particularly the northern districts. Already the temperature of the Chuadanga district has come down to 7.9 degree Celsius. As a result, the poor and working communities are suffering severely due to such adverse weather. Due to winter wave, the temperature is going down where as there are apprehension that the people may suffer from various diseases because of the shortages of warm clothes.

It is government’s prime responsibility to distribute warm clothes among the poor people. But the government has failed to lessen public miseries. The government pay no heed to the people’s issues as they do not represent the people. Under the circumstances, it is our duty to duty to take stand by their side by distributing warm clothes.

I am urging the government, different voluntary organizations, affluent people, donors and the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami to distribute warm clothes among the winter-affected poor communities nationwide.
