Jamaat Ameer calls to celebrate Victory Day on 16th December with due solemnity and fervor
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Maqbul Ahmad has issued the following statement on 12th December, 2016 on the eve of the glorious 'Victory Day' on next 16th December.
16th December is being observed as the glorious 'Victory Day'. The day has tremendous importance and significance in our national lives. On the eve of the occasion, we are remembering those valiant son of the soil, who had sacrificed their lives for this country. With due respect and honor, we are recalling the unprecedented contribution of the freedom fighters who had participated the war of liberation. We are also praying for the departed soul of the martyrs who had made their optimum sacrifice to make this country independent.
The nation is going to observe Victory Day this time in such a critical period when a suffocating atmosphere is prevailing across the country. Losing the spirit and strength of democracy, the prime achievement of independence, the nation is moving towards an uncertain destiny. Under such a crucial circumstances, there is no alternative to national unity.
I am urging all wings and front organizations of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to celebrate the Victory Day with due solemnity and fervor by arranging discussion and prayer programs maintaining broad base unity and upholding a vow to protect the independence and sovereignty of the country. On the eve of the 'Victory Day', I am felicitating and hailing the countrymen and wishing their peace and progress.
