Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 20th April, 2024 protesting and condemning the unjustified arrest of Nilphamari district Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary Advocate Al Faruq Abdul Latif, Syedpur Upazila Jamaat secretary Mazharul Islam and Upazila working committee member Khoirat Hossain Bosunia.

“Police has arrested the aforesaid personnel while they were taking part in a social gathering at the house of Syedpur Upazila Jamaat Ameer Hafez Maulana Abdul Muntakim.

The detained Jamaat leaders went over there for attending a social event. Police have arrested them unjustifiably in order to serve the political interest. I am urging the concerned authorities to stop all harassment and to release all detained leaders including Advocate Al Faruq Abdul Latif immediately.
