Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 23^rd November, 2023 protesting and condemning police’s raid in the house of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman in Sylhet.

The honorable Jamaat Ameer was arrested from his Dhaka residence on 12^th December of 2022. Since then, he has been remaining behind the bar. Although he has secured bail from the High Court but his release is being denied repeatedly. His family members are being harassed as well. Police carried out a raid in his Sylhet residence at 9 pm on 22^nd November and harassed the family members.

It is really pathetic, unjust, inhuman and a politically motivated move to conduct a raid and harassing the family members of Dr. Shafiqur Rahman while he is imprisoned. We are condemning such inhuman activities of the government. It seems, there is nothing called citizen’s rights in the country. We are urging the concerned authorities to stop such inhuman and harassing initiatives immediately.
