Jamaat-e-Islami declares nationwide peaceful demonstration on Saturday demanding release of Allama Sayedee

Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 11th May, 2017 declaring nationwide peaceful demonstration on 13th May, 2017 Saturday demanding release of one of the top leaders of Jamat-e-Islami, renowned preacher of the Holy Quran and former member of the National Parliament Allama Delawar Hossain Sayedee.

“The government has imprisoned Allama Delawar Hossain Sayedee for last 7 years in order to harass him politically. The government has initiated a conspiracy of destroying the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami since it came to the power 2009. As a part of the same conspiracy, the authority has kept Allama Sayedee behind the bar. He has given imprisonment till death for murdering a person named Bishabali of the Pirojpur district, although he had no connection with this murder incident. Just to convict him intentionally in line with this false allegation, the law enforcers had abducted the defence witness of the case, Sukhranjan Bali (the brother of murdered Bishabali) from the court premise. Many other people’s testimony has been recorded in this case but surprisingly no one from the victim family was made the witness of this case. This reality substantiated that the government has kept Allama Sayedee imprisoned with false charge just only to attain its ill political interest. He has been deprived from justice due to interference of the government. If justice is ensured, by will of the Almighty Allah, he will be proved innocent and subsequently be acquitted from all the false charges.

Under the circumstances, on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, I am declaring nationwide peaceful demonstration on 13th May, 2017 Saturday demanding release of Allama Delawar Hossain Sayedee. I am urging all the units of Jamaat-e-Islami and seeking the assistance and prayer from the countrymen to make the declared program successful.”
