Egypt sentences Mohamed Badie to life in prison; Jamaat Ameer condemns

Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmad has issued the following statement on 9th May, 2017 protesting and condemning the unjustifiable life term imprisonment of the Supreme Guide of Muslim Brotherhood Dr. Mohamed Badie, party’s spokesman Mahmoud Gozlan and member of the guardian council Hosam Abu Bakr and similar imprisonment for different terms against 35 others of the same party.

The leadership of Muslim Brotherhood have become the worst victim of the Egyptian government’s political vengeance. The autocratic government in Egypt has been repressing and torturing since 2013 after the Egyptian army ousted country’s first freely-elected President and Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed Morsi. The tyrannical government is plotting conspiracy to linger its oppressive regime by continuing such crackdown against the general masses. The people of Egypt becoming aggrieved and angered again due to such oppression of the government, which is completely detached from the people.

In this backdrop, I am urging the Egyptian government to stop repression and to release all the detained leaders and activists of Muslim Brotherhood including its Supreme Guide Dr. Mohamed Badie.”
