National election to be held under a caretaker government- Maulana Abdul Halim

National election must be held under a caretaker government. The countrymen will not accept any election without a caretaker regime. The incumbent Awami League government has destroyed the electoral system completely and turned the nation into an authoritarian state. This tyrant will be dethroned through a massive movement of the people. Democracy and public rights must be restored following a free, fair and credible election.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and Rangpur-Dinajpur region’s coordinator Maulana Abdul Halim said this while addressing a leadership conference arranged by Jamaat-e-Islami Nilphamari district. District Ameer Abdur Rashid presided over the program which was hosted by district secretary Maulana Antajul Islam.

Abdul Halim said, Jamaat has been playing its systematic and democratic role since its establishment in 1941. Despite all tortures, repression and crackdown, Jamaat-e-Islami is working to establish truth and justice in the society.

He said, the martyrdom of 10 Jamaat leaders including Jamaat Ameer, the sacrifices of hundreds of activists have bolstered this movement. He demanded immediate release of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and all other detained leaders, activists and religious scholars.

Among others, regional team member Maulana Abdul Khaleq, district Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Khairul Anam and Principal Maulana Abdus Sattar, Rangpur city Jamaat secretary Maulana Obaidullah Salafi, Joldhaka Upazila Ameer Mokhlesur Rahman and Chhatrashibir district president Sabbir Hossain addressed the program.
