Winter cloths distributed in Chirir Bandar Upazila of Dinajpur district

The affluent people should work to serve the poor community, says Maulana Abdul Halim

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim has said, the incumbent undemocratic government has seized the power by holding a dummy election. On election on 7th January, like the voters of country’s other parts, the voters of Dinajpur did not cast their votes as well. I am hailing the residents of Dinajpur as they boycotted that election. The incumbent authoritarian government and the parliament is illegal. The countrymen want to establish its preferable government through an election under the caretaker government.

Maulana Abdul Halim said this while addressing a winter clothes distribution program at Chirir Bandar Upazila in Dinajpur today. Dinajpur north organizational district organized the program which was presided by Chirir Bandar Upazila Nayeb-e-Ameer Waliuddin and hosted by Upazila secretary Abdul Momin. Among others, former district Ameer and Chirir Bandar Upazila’s former chairman Aftab Uddin Molla and Dinajpur north organizational district Ameer Principal Anisur Rahman were present on the occasion.

Maulana Abdul Halim said, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a systematic, democratic and Islamic political party. Complying all the constitutional rules, Jamaat is organizing its political program peacefully. But the present fascist government is creating obstruction for Jamaat-e-Islami to hold meeting and processions. Thousands of party activists are being imprisoned in connection with various false cases. Many others have been abducted or have been made crippled, and murdered. Despite all such repression, Islamic movement is progressing ahead. But various noble works including winter clothes distribution are being hampered due to government’s bar. But Jamaat-e-Islami had been by the side of the people and they will remain similarly in the future as well. Jamaat wants to make the helpless people happy. We hope you will cooperate with us so that we can continue such humanitarian activities in the days to come.

He said, for last couple of days, country’s northern sides are suffering severely because of the excessive coldness. The poor and marginal communities are suffering the most. They are struggling to manage food daily. So, naturally, it is not possible for them to buy winter clothes. Under the circumstances, as a pro-people organization, Jamaat-e-Islami has come forward to lessen the mass sufferings. We hope, our support will help you to overcome the situation. He urged the affluent corners of the society to extend their helping hand to serve the poor and impoverished communities.
