Professor Mujib criticizes the vested quarters who are trying to implicate Jamaat-e-Islami with the attacks on Hindu minorities
Monday, 07th November, 2016

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 7th November, 2016 protesting and condemning the false and ill-intentional remarks of some vested quarters implicating Jamaat-e-Islami with the incident of attacking, looting and vandalizing the Hindu temples, business institutions, houses and other establishments in Nasirnagar of the Brahmanbaria district.

“We have condemned the incident of attack on the Hindu communities in Nasirnagar for several times and urged the authorities to bring the real offenders to the justice. The victims Hindu men and women have blamed the local MP and Minister and the local administration for this failure while talking to the media. Many people also demanded the resignation of the concerned minister as the entire incidents took place in his presence. Local Awami League also expelled 3 leaders for their involvement with these incidents. Naturally it becomes clear to the countrymen that these incidents are the result of some deep rooted conspiracy. Under such circumstances, some intentional and false speeches are being delivered against Jamaat-e-Islami to conceal their own misdeeds. Even the local administration also stated that, arrest drive is going on based on the video footages.

Addressing those vested quarters that are making concocted stories against Jamaat-e-Islami, I want to say that, prove the involvement of Jamaat men with substantial evidences like video footages. If any Jamaat worker is involved with this incident, we would take organizational steps against him. But I firmly believe that they would be failed miserably to place any such evidence, because no one from this party is involved with these attacks. In the earlier occasions, immediate after any such wrongdoing blame games were started against Jamaat-e-Islami, but not a single allegation is proved so far.

For the sake of the affected Hindu communities, I am calling upon not to politicize this issue and to conduct an impartial judicial investigation into these occurrences in order to punish the real criminals. If this incident is used politically, the real perpetrators would remain behind the curtain again whereas the innocent peoples would be harassed. Such a move can never resolve the crises rather it would make the situation more complicated.

Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony. Hindu are Muslims have been living peacefully together in this country for decades. So, these wrongdoings and ill deeds must be tackled by forming unity in order to maintain the good image of communal harmony.
