Mia Ghulam Parwar condemns recent attacks on Hindu establishments; blames administration for their negligence
Wednesday, 02nd November, 2016
Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 2nd November, 2016 condemning the attack and vandalism in various Hindu temples, houses, business institutions of the Hindu communities centering a defamatory actions of a Hindu youth against the Holy Kabaa in Nasirnagar of the Brahmanbaria district and similar attacks on the Hindu temples in Madhabpur of the Habiganj district and Kotabari Durga temple in Roghunathpur of the Gopalganj district town.

“The incidents of attacks on Hindu establishments which have been taken place in Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria, Madhabpur of Habiganj and Gopalganj district towns are really very pathetic. If the local administrations could take instant punitive measures against the Hindu youth for his objectionable tasks against the Holy Kabaa, then this sort of painful consequence would be avoided. This pathetic incident took place due to negligence of the administration. No one should act beyond the law. Everybody should respect the course of law. The government should establish rule of law if they really want to create mass respect towards the law. Whoever the offender is, he must be brought to the justice.

Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony. People of all religions and faiths have been living in this country for hundreds of years. But sometimes, some miscreants try to foil the communal harmony of this country by hurting the religious sentiment. So everyone should be refrained from conducting any such activities which could hurt the religious sentiment of the people.

Finally I am urging the authorities concerned to investigate into the incident of attacks on Hindu establishments which have been taken place in Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria, Madhabpur of Habiganj and Gopalganj district and to ensure exemplary punishment to those personnel who were involved with such attacks.”
