Women wing of Jamaat or Islami Chhatrishangstha has no links with the detained female militants, asserts Hamidur Rahman Azad
Friday, 19th August, 2016

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 19th August, 2016protesting a report of Bengali Daily ‘Jugantor’ titled ‘Jamaat backs the female militants’ which claimed that an official of the intelligence agencies has discolosed before the concerned reporter quoting the reference of detained student Aklima Rahman Moni that “Jamaat has a backing behind the female militants of banned militant outfit Jamatul Mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB). Islami Chhatrishangstha, which is functioning under the patronization of Jamaat-e-Islami, is organizing the militants.”

“It is completely unlawful to reveal the testimony of a detainee who had been nabbed by the law enforcers to a reporter. No officer of the intelligence agencies can do such unlawful task. So the report of the Daily Jugantor has no credibility at all.

Bangladesh Islami Chhatrishangstha has no relation with Aklima Rahman Moni, who has been referred in the report of Daily Jugantor. Naturally, no question is emanated for her to discharge duties as the Vice President of the Islami Chhatrishangstha, Manarat University unit. It is also beyond questionable in fact to have any nexus between the women wing of Jamaat-e-Islami and the militants or to sponsor them. The story which is narrated in the particular report of the Daily Jugantor implicating women wing of Jamaat, Islami Chhatrishangstha and the militants, which are completely false, baseless and concocted.

I am urging the authority of Daily Jugantor to be refrained from publishing false and baseless report implicating women wing of Jamaat and Islami Chhatrishangstha and expecting that they would publish this rejoinder properly to lessen the mass confusion.”
