Ghulam Parwar rejects the address of the Minister; No ground is there to ban Jamaat-e-Islami or to confiscate its properties
Monday, 15th August, 2016

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 15th August, 2016 protesting the peculiar comment of the Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Hoque which he has made while addressing a program in the National Press Club on last 14th August, saying that ‘After banning Jamaat-e-Islami, all of its properties will be confiscated.’

“With the ill- intention to impose ban upon Jamaat-e-Islami and to confiscate the party properties, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Hoque has made the comment in the program which is completely unlawful, illogical and illegal.

Responding to the remark of Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Hoque, I want to assert that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a legitimate political party which sincerely believes in systematic, democratic and transparent trend of politics. Jamaat-e-Islami always has been conducting constructive politics. Jamaat has full respect and obligation towards the domestic law and the constitution. So there is no logic behind the evil intention of the Liberation War Affairs Minister of banning Jamaat-e-Islami or confiscating its properties. He is trying to confuse and misguide the people by making such illogical and unlawful remark.

I am urging Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Hoque to be refrained from making such unlawful, illogical and unjust comment in future.”
