Barrister Arman is missing for 96 hours now; Mia Ghulam Parwar expresses concern about his life
Saturday, 13th August, 2016
It has become long 96 hours now, since Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman, son of Jamaat-e-Islami's detained Central Executive Committee member Mir Quasem  Ali and one of his defence counsels had been picked up by the law enforcers from his residence. Still neither the law enforcement agency members have produced him before the court nor gave him back to his family.

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 13th August, 2016 expressing deep concern over the incident and demanding his immediate release.

“According to directives of the High Court, it is mandatory for the law enforcement agencies to produce a detainee before the court within 24 hours of his arrest. But it has become 96 hours now since Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman had been picked up by the law enforcers. Still he is not been produced before the court or brought back to his family.  Under the circumstances, I am expressing severe concern about his life.

Such a regular practitioner had been picked up in front of his family members from his own residence. His family members rushed immediately to the local police station to take legal shelter and to lodge a general diary.  But the policemen of that police station did not take initiative to accept the general diary. It is clearly a humiliating act towards the law and vivid violation of the human rights of a citizen.

We are urging the concerned authorities not to do any more tricks and to show their obligations towards the law by releasing him immediately and also by removing all the obstacles so that he can discharge his duties as a defence counsel in the instant case of his father. Otherwise the government has to take the liabilities of any further bad occurrences or his damages.

Finally I am calling upon the human rights organizations and peace loving communities around the world to raise voice against the inhuman and brutal repression against Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman.
