5 Jamaat men including a pious lady arrested in Sirajganj; Hamidur Rahman Azad protests
Friday, 12th August, 2016
Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 12th August, 2016 protesting the unjust arrest of 5 leaders and activists from Sirajganj including district’s Sadar Upazila Ameer Master Moidul Alam.
“The government is arresting the grassroots level leaders and workers of Jamaat-e-Islami in a bid to make it a leaderless party.
As a part of the same repressive strategy, police has arrested 5 leaders and activists including Sirajganj Sadar Upazila Jamaat Ameer Master Moidul Alam and Shialkol Union Jamaat Ameer Maulana Abdus Salam. Among the detainees, there is a decent lady with religious attires. Police has arrested them just to harass them politically. The repression and torture of the government is exceeding all the level of tolerance. I am calling upon the countrymen to raise voice against the suppression of the government.
I am urging the authorities concerned to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Sirajganj Sadar Upazila Jamaat Ameer Master Moidul Alam immediately.”
