Tuesday, 25th October, 2016

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 25th October, 2016 declaring nationwide peaceful demonstration on 27th October, 2016 Thursday demanding the trial of the 28th October killings and atrocities and protesting against the ongoing abduction, murder, terrorism and oppression and declaring special prayer program on 28th October, Friday.

“The countrymen are severely disturbed with the ongoing murder, killings, abduction, terrorism and nationwide terror acts of the government. On 28th October of 2006, the hooligans of the Awami League led grand alliance attacked on a procession of Jamaat-e-Islami at the north gate of the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram and mercilessly murdered 6 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir. Thousands of people also wounded during such attacks. But those murders and atrocities have not been tried yet.

In one side, the government is abducting and murdering the Jamaat and Chhatrashibir activists by using the law enforcers while on the other, the ruling party terrorists launched a reign of terror nationwide. The countrymen are living amid severe panic, tension and fear due to torture and oppression of the government.

In this backdrop, I am declaring nationwide peaceful demonstration on 27th October, 2016 Thursday demanding the trial of the 28th October killings and atrocities and protesting against the ongoing abduction, murder, terrorism and oppression and declaring special prayer program on 28th October, Friday.

I am calling upon the wings and front organizations of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and seeking the assistance of the countrymen to make the declared programs successful.”
