Tuesday, 25th October, 2016

Two leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatrashibir were killed in a police claimed `gunfight` at Nazir Uddin road of the Jhenaidah district town this dawn.

The deceased were identified as Johurul Islam, the district town unit Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami and Dr. Sajib, ex-secretariat member Dhaka city west unit Chhatrashibir, originally hailed from the same district. According to the family sources, both of the deceased remained missing for months.

Johurul had been picked up by the law enforcers 4 day before the Eid-ul-Azha in last September. Since then, his family held many press confrenece and rushed to the police stations seeking his trace. But police denied the arrest claim like all the previous occasions.

Two days before, a dead body was found in Gopalganj district. Initially social media became viral identifying the body as Johurul, but later the body got missing. This dawn, the body of Mr. Johurul has been found finally in his district.

With these two , some 11 people of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir have been murdered extra judicially in the name of crossfire or gunfight since 4th March of 2016. Jamaat and Shibir regularly claim that the government and the law enforcers have turned the entire district of Jhenaidah a valley of death as the residents of the district took part widely in all the movement against the incumbent autocratic government.
