Hamidur Rahman Azad denounces the false report of Kaler Kantha; Jamaat has no connection with the family of Neo JMB chief
Sunday, 23rd October, 2016

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 23rd October, 2016 protesting the false and baseless information published in a report of Bengali Daily ‘Kaler Kantha’ titled Ò‡md †Rvb Kivi cwiKíbvi wQj be¨ †RGgwei Rw½‡`iÓ (The Neo JMB militants had a plan to create a safe zone) which claimed quoting Bholahat police station’s officer-in-charge Mohsin Ali that ‘murdered Sarowar Jahan alias Abdur Rahman, who is being identified as the head of the Neo JMB is a son of the Jamaat activist in Chapai Nawabganj district.

“Jamaat-e-Islami has no connection with Abdul Mannan, the father of the recently murdered Neo JMB chief Sarowar Jahan alias Abdur Rahman or his family. So no question is raised at all about the alleged involvement of Sarowar Jahan alias Abdur Rahman’s father with Jamaat-e-Islami.

The report has mentioned so called Sarowar Jahan alias Abdur Rahman as Jamaat activist’s son in order to tarnish the image of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. But the countrymen would never be misguided by publishing such false information.

In this backdrop, I am urging the authority of Daily Kaler Kantha to be refrained from publishing false information against Jamaat-e-Islami and expecting that they would publish this rejoinder properly to minimize the mass confusion.”
