Professor Mujib rejects the remark of ICT’s Chief investigation officer against Jamaat Ameer
Friday, 21st October, 2016
Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 21st October, 2016 protesting the concocted statement of ICT’s investigation team chief Abdul Hannan in regards to the newly elected Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmad.

“Mr. Abdul Hannan, the head of the investigation team of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has raised some allegations against the newly elected Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmad which are completely false and baseless.

At the beginning of his professional career, he performed the duty as a teacher at a reputed High School with due sincerity and honor. This teacher with modest character is highly respected to his students, colleagues and people of all classes. There is no chance for such a renowned full time teacher to be a Razakar or to get involved with any crimes against humanity. Even no kid would believe such an allegation against a teacher. Under the circumstances, I am asking Mr. Abdul Hannan to disclose the list of the Razakars of that area.

The claim of Maqbul Ahmad’s instruction behind any murder or arson is completely irrelevant. The allegations which came in forth quoting the reference of freedom fighter commander Mir Abdul Hannan and Shariat Ullah Bangali against Maqbul Ahmad of his order for murdering freedom fighter Wazuddin and 10 Hindu men by setting fire at Lalpur village are totally false.

45 years has been elapsed since the war of independence, no victim families, their relatives, well wishers or any other aggrieved citizen has ever raised any allegation against him. This circumstance substantiated that, the recently raised allegation against him is nothing but a conspiracy to subdue the opponent. This is the heinous step of the government to cause harm to Jamaat-e-Islami and its leadership. He has been discharging duty as Jamaat’s Acting Ameer for last 6 years. He is not an unknown figure. But even no one raised allegation against him when he was serving the party as the Acting Ameer as well.

I am urging the government to be refrained from carrying out such nasty and vindictive activities in future.”
