Professor Mujib protests false news published in Bengali daily Janakantha against Jamaat Ameer
Wednesday, 19th October, 2016
Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 19th October, 2016 protesting a baseless report published in the last page of Bengali daily Janakantha against Jamaat-e-Islami's newly elected Ameer Maqbul Ahmad.
The report which has been published in daily Janakantha against Jamaat Ameer is completely baseless. He was never a Razakar commander. No question can be raised on this issue. He had no nexus with any incident of arson and murder during the war of liberation.
In those days, he had been serving as a respected and dignified teacher in a reputed High School. The information which has been mentioned in the aforesaid report quoting Feni district Freedom Fighter commander Mir Abdul Hannan and Dagonbhuiyan Upazila Freedom Fighter commander Shariat Ullah Bangali, is completely baseless. Mr. Maqbul Ahmad had no involvement with the incidents of murdering the then East Pakistan Chhatra Union leader and Freedom Fighter Maulana Wazuddin, Ahsan Ullah of Khushipur village or killing 10 Hindu peoples of Lalpur village by arsoning. No question was there for him to instruct or order those incidents. If he had minimum involvement with those incidents, someone must had filed allegation against him. Absence of any such allegation proved his innocence. However, so many years after those incidents, these allegations in the current period proved that, it has been made only to tarnish his clean image.
In this backdrop, I am urging the authority of Daily Janakantha to be refrained from publishing such false, baseless and ill-intentional reports in future.
