Jamaat leader Ataur Rahman arrested once again; Professor Mujib protests
Monday, 17th October, 2016

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 17th October, 2016 protesting the unjust arrest of Jamaat-e-Islami’s central working committee member and former Ameer of Rajshahi city and veteran freedom fighter Ataur Rahman on last 16th October.

“The government has arrested and caused sufferings to Ataur Rahman just to attain their ill political interest. Veteran freedom fighter and academician Ataur Rahman has been suffering from various diseases. He is severely ill. The government has committed an inhuman task by detaining him once again. The government is arresting, abducting and murdering the leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir across the country in a bid to linger their tyrannical regime. But no autocratic regime could stay in power by conducting such unlawful arrest, murder and abduction and this present government would not able to stay as well. I am urging the countrymen to protest against the torture, repression, abduction and open fire strategies of the government.

Finally, I am calling upon the authorities concerned to release all the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir including Ataur Rahman immediately.”
