Professor Mujib calls the authority to bring missing Barrister Arman and Aman Azmi back to their families
Friday, 14th October, 2016

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 14th October, 2016 urging the authorities concerned to bring retired Brigadier General Abdullahil Aman Azmi, the son of Jamaat’s former Ameer late Professor Ghulam Azam and Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman back to their families immediately.

“Their families, relatives and well wishers are passing days amid severe tension, anxiety and panic for them. Some people claiming themselves as law enforcers had picked up Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman on last 9th August and bring retired Brigadier General Abdullahil Aman Azmi on 22nd August from their residences forcefully. Immediate after the incidents, the respective families rushed to the local police stations seeking their traces. But the local police defied the arrest claim and even denied to accept general diary on their missing incidents. Their families and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have been repeatedly calling upon the concerned authorities to disclose their whereabouts and for their release. But regrettably the government is paying no heed to such call.

The government is also not taking any initiatives despite the world renowned human rights bodies are expressing deep concern repeatedly for these missing victims. Their families, countrymen and the international quarters think, the government has kept them disappeared in order to attain their ill political interest. If these duos commit any crime, the authority may produce them before the court for the trial procedure. Or even they can simply return them to their families. Denying so, they have been kept abducted and disappeared for months, which is contradictory to rule of law, democracy and human rights. Thus the government has foiled the human rights and rule of law completely.

In this backdrop, I am urging the authorities concerned to bring them back to their family and to demonstrate their respect and honor towards democracy, rule of law and human rights.”
