Mia Ghulam Parwar criticizes the biased and untrue comment of the State Minister for Power and Energy Resources against Jamaat-e-Islami
Sunday, 09th October, 2016
Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 9th October, 2016 protesting the address of the State Minister for Power and Energy Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu that he has delivered in a discussion program held in a city hotel on last 8th October saying that, ‘The quarters who are opposing the Rampal power plant project, most of them are involved with Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir.’
“The comment of the State Minister for Power and Energy Resources is an exposure of his blind hostility towards Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir and it is completely false and baseless.
Not only Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir are opposing the construction of Rampal coal based power plant in an adjacent area to the Sundarbans. All the patriot citizens of the country including the environmentalists and scientists, intellectuals, journalists, NGO personalities, professionals and political parties are vehemently opposing this project. UNESCO and other international platforms also expressed deep concern at the government’s initiative to construct coal based power plant in Rampal, which very close to the natural wonder, the Sundarbans. They also recommended the government to stop the project immediately in order to conserve the biodiversity of the area and also to protect the trees and animals of this mangrove forest. The environment experts have opined that if this project is materialized, the Sundarbans would be ruined and Bangladesh would face severe catastrophe due to frequent natural disasters. People from home and abroad are really worried about the security and preservation of the Sundarbans.
It is matter of great concern to the countrymen and they want to know that why the government is showing its defiant position for such a reckless move sacrificing the national interest?
The State Minister for Power and Energy Resources has made a biased, one-sided and immoral address by blaming only Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir for opposing the construction of Rampal power plant. As if, it becomes a psychological disorder of the ruling party men to oppose and blame Jamaat-Shibir quarters for everything.
The countrymen know Jamaat-e-Islami as a transparent, patriot and progressive party. They never believe and recognize those comments whatever the anti-Jamaat quarters are saying hiding the real truth. “
