Hamidur Rahman Azad criticizes Indian government’s support to the controversial war crimes trial in Bangladesh
Saturday, 10th September, 2016

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 10th September, 2016 protesting the address of the Indian External Affairs Ministry’s spokesman Vikas Swarup in which he overwhelmingly extended support to the ongoing controversial war crimes trial in Bangladesh.

“By extending support to the conspiracy of killing Jamaat’s top leadership, in the name of war crimes trial, Indian government has proved that they have effectively taken stand against democracy, rule of law and human rights.

Not only that, by supporting this controversial war crimes trial procedure, they have inspired the vindictive politics of the incumbent Awami League led grand alliance government to kill the Jamaat leaders. All the democratic countries, international human rights organizations and renowned legal experts have already termed the ongoing war crimes trial as flawed and politically motivated. We hope that Indian government will be able to realize this vivid truth shortly.”
