Police vandalized and locked the house of a Jamaat member in Sylhet; Dr. Taher protests
Friday, 17th June, 2016

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher has issued the following statement on 17th June, 2016 vehemently protesting the heinous police move as they had carried a raid into the house of Jamaat member Moshiur Rahman, hailed from Sylhet district’s Fenchuganj Upazila’s Hatuvanga village, vandalized his houses and locked the house at the end of the drive.

“The incident of police attack and vandalism in the house of Jamaat member Moshiur Rahman, hailed from Sylhet district’s Fenchuganj Upazila’s Hatuvanga village is completely unlawful, inhuman and illegitimate act.

Mr. Mashiur Rahman could not take his Sahri and Iftar on that day as police had vandalized his house and locked it finally. He became compelled to take shelter in the house of a neighbor. His sons and daughters cannot read as the police seized all of their books during this drive. I am calling upon the countrymen to raise voice against the torture and repression of the police forces.

I am urging the concerned authorities to stop oppression and to unlock the house of Mr. Mashiur Rahman immediately.”
