Thursday, 16th June, 2016

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 16th June, 2016 condemning the unjust arrest of Gaibandha district Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and veteran freedom fighter Abdul Wares on last 14th June.

“The government has unlawfully arrested veteran freedom fighter Abdul Wares in order to attain its ill political interest. The government has plotted a conspiracy against Jamaat-e-Islami and as a part of the conspiracy they have arrested Mr. Abdul Wares. The government is detaining the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir selectively.

The law enforcers have arrested Brahmanbaria district Jamaat’s publicity secretary Sirajul Islam on 16th June. Police also arrested Noral district Chhatrashibir’s Literary and Publications Affairs Secretary Jahidul Islam and his wife and Norail city Chhatrishangstha president Khadiza Islam on last 14th June without any reason. The law enforcing bodies are conducting arrest drive nationwide and harassing the leaders and workers of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir. I am calling upon the countrymen to raise voice against the autocratic rule of this government.

Finally, I am urging the authorities concerned to release all the detained Jamaat-Shibir men including Gaibandha district Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and veteran freedom fighter Abdul Wares immediately.”
