Thursday, 16th June, 2016

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 16th June, 2016 with deep condemnation and expressing deep concern as Ripon Chakraborty, a lecturer of mathematics department at Government Nazimuddin University College in Madaripur severely hacked inside his home.

I am expressing deep concern as a College teacher has been hacked inside his home in broad day light. This horrible incident of attack took place amid a countrywide crackdown against militants and criminals.

In last 17 months, 49 people have been killed in such a way. These numbers again indicated that how much the law and order situation has been deteriorated. Though a severe panic and tension has been created in home and abroad centering this secret killing but the government is not taking any effective steps to stop such heinous acts.

Immediately after such incidents, we immediately called upon the concerned authorities to identify the killers and to bring them to the book. But the government miserably played tricky blame game with these issues. So question has been raised among the people about the sincerity of the government for stopping such secret murders. I want to reiterate that, national unity is a must to stop secret killing and terrorism and the government has to take actions in this regard. Otherwise these acts of terrorism would be spread more and put the existence of the nation at a stake.

I am also urging the countrymen to raise voice against these misdeeds.”
