Jamaat forced to cancel its scheduled Iftar program again due to obstruction from some invisible forces; Acting Secretary General condemns
Tuesday, 14th June, 2016
Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed has arranged an Iftar program on next 25th June at the ball room of the Hotel Sonargaon of the capital in honor of the politicians, lawyers, intellectuals, journalists, religious leaders and distinguished professionals. But an invisible force has compelled the hotel authority to cancel the booking of Jamaat-e-Islami in a bid to cancel the program. Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 14th June, 2016 protesting such obstruction to hold pre-declared Iftar program.

“We are surprised, shocked and aggrieved as an invisible force compelled us to cancel the pre-declared peaceful religious and social gathering like Iftar program in this holy month of Ramadan.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has been arranging separate Iftar programs honoring the diplomats and the politicians and other distinguished personnel in every Ramadan for years. But we are being deprived from such privilege this year due to some instruction of some invisible forces. The move for cancelling a social and religious function like Iftar program proved that the minimum decency, modesty and tolerance are not existed in the politics of this country. We have no word to condemn such incident. We are leaving the task of taking decision about these inhuman behaviors upon the countrymen. Prior to cancel this program, the Jamaat hosted earlier Iftar program for diplomats also could not take place due to naked interference of the police forces.

We had booked the hotel venue as usually and the hotel authority also confirmed the booking. But all on a sudden, the hotel authority cancelled the booking on 12th June afternoon verbally and later through a mail on 13th June noon.

We are expressing our sorrow for our inconvenience to the invited distinguished personnel and also to them who have cordially accepted our invitation. We are the worst victim of the government’s repression. We believe that the freedom loving patriot people would make a stern reply to such oppression on due time.”
