Hamidur Rahman Azad condemns the gang rape of the Hindu mother and her daughter by the ruling party leaders
Monday, 13th June, 2016

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 13th June, 2016 condemning the forced gang rape of a Hindu minority mother and her daughter in Baufol Upazila of the Patuakhali district by the Jubo League and Shechashebok League hooligans on 11th June night.

“The incident of forced gang rape of a Hindu minority mother and her daughter in Baufol Upazila of the Patuakhali district by the Jubo League and Shechashebok League hooligans proved that life, property and respect of the citizens are no more secured now.

This incident again substantiated the prevailing instability, uncertainty and anarchic situation of the country. Immediate after the incident, the local residences caught local Shechashebok League leader Nur Alam from the trawler red handed in line with the allegation of gang rape. All the detainees are the activists of Jubo League and Shechashebok League. The countrymen are deeply worried with their life, property, security and establishments.

In the previous occasions, while holding offices, Awami League and its cadres had attacked the minority houses, raped many ladies and grabbed their establishments and business institutions. At present they are showing their reckless attitude in the same way.

I am urging the concerned authorities to hold proper investigation into the incident of gang rape in Baufol of Patuakhali and to ensure due punishment of the criminals. Besides, I am warning the authorities so that no offenders can be escaped for their political identity.”
