Rajshahi city Jamaat Ameer Professor Dr. Abul Hashem arrested; Mia Ghulam Parwar demands immediate release

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 4th August, 2016 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of Rajshahi city Jamaat Ameer Professor Dr. Abul Hashem, Netrokona district’s Khaliajuri Upazila Jamaat Ameer Principal Maulana Ismail Hossen and Bogra district’s Gabtoli Upazila’s former Ameer Maulana Maksudur Rahman.

“Police has unlawfully arrested Rajshahi city Jamaat Ameer Professor Dr. Abul Hashem, Netrokona district’s Khaliajuri Upazila Jamaat Ameer Principal Maulana Ismail Hossen and Bogra district’s Gabtoli Upazila’s former Ameer Maulana Maksudur Rahman in order to harass them politically. They are completely innocent.

Professor Dr. Abul Hashem, Principal Maulana Ismail Hossen and Maulana Maksudur Rahman have been arrested as a part of the conspiracy of making Jamaat-e-Islami, a leaderless party. Professor Dr. Abul Hashem is a distinguished teacher of Rajshahi University. He has been undergoing through severe harassment with such unjust arrest. The fascist face of the government has been exposed through the ongoing arrest drive against the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami. I am urging the countrymen to raise voice against the fascist behaviors and actions of the government.

Finally, I am calling upon the concerned authorities to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Rajshahi city Jamaat Ameer Professor Dr. Abul Hashem immediately.”
