Hamidur Rahman Azad denounces the false report of Bangladesh Pratidin; disproves the claim of Abul Barakat
Thursday, 21st July, 2016

Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 21st July, 2016 gainsaying a report of Bengali Daily ‘Bangladesh Pratidin’ titled ‘সন্দেহজনক ১১ এনজিও নজরদারীতে (Suspicious 11 NGO under surveillance) implicating Jamaat-e-Islami.

“The report of ‘Bangladesh Pratidin’ placed some information implicating Jamaat-e-Islami quoting the reference of Abul Barakat, which is entirely false.

Such an ill effort is not a new one. Mr. Barakat is in an undeclared war against Jamaat-e-Islami for last 10 years. He has tried to misguide the countrymen by providing some untrue and concocted information. What kind of severe looting and corruption had taken place in a state owned bank while he discharging duty as the chairman, it is clearly known to all. His antagonistic speeches against Islamic banks and insurances are not unknown as well. He repeatedly delivered such hostile comments to create a negative impression among the people as Islamic banks and insurance policies have gained tremendous popularity among the masses in recent times.

The registered NGO’s of the country are being regulated by government’s NGO bureaus. It is their duty to monitor the transparencies of these NGOs. The comments what he has made implicating Jamaat-e-Islami is ridiculous and surprising. Jamaat has no connection with those issues.

We have been asserting repeatedly that, holding the divine spirit of Islam, Jamaat-e-Islami is carrying out its programs in a democratic and systematic way. There is no room for extremism, exaggeration and terrorism. Relation with terrorism is far away; actually Jamaat-e-Islami hates all sorts of terrorism sincerely.

In the recent incidents of terrorism and violence, some people had been caught red handed. Their identity and political affiliation has been revealed before the nation already. The countrymen know that none of them are connected with Jamaat-e-Islami. The ill effort of Dr. Abul Barakat is an attempt to transfer the liability of one’s offence to someone else. With such efforts, actually they are indulging the terror acts.

If they do not stop their ill efforts immediately, the nation may fall into severe risk. Every concerned citizen should be alert and aware of these shrewd and cunning intellectuals.”
